Chartered in the Ottawa area in 1902, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees has provided stagehand labour in the Ottawa, Kingston and Belleville areas for over 100 years. Local 471 was chartered in 1971 specifically for the National Arts Centre in Ottawa and now incorporates the proud tradition of the I.A.T.S.E. for all of Eastern Ontario. Local 471 represents a work force of over 300 workers at over 20 different venues and many different employers such as the National Arts Centre, Scotiabank Place, the City of Ottawa, the City of Kingston, Live Nation, OYE, The Great Canadian Theatre Company, CBC, and Dennis Ruffo Productions.

Local 471 specializes in providing stagecraft, Projection and Wardrobe Hair and Make-up labour for concert and theatrical productions with highly skilled and experienced professionals in the areas of high rigging, erection of stages and scenic construction, audio, lighting, projection, pyrotechnics, licensed electricians, lift equipment operators, wardrobe, hair and make-up.

Local 471 has built a reputation over the past 40 years of providing a highly competent and efficient work force and now assists in the successful production of over 500 concert, festival, theatrical and sporting events each year in the Ottawa and Kingston areas.

The end result for producers has been a simplified process for obtaining a highly skilled workforce from one source. It has also reduced the time, effort and many of the logistics that are typically related to securing such a diversified labour force.

Local 471 has provided labour for numerous movie and mini series productions, political campaigns and industrial trade shows in the Ottawa area. I.A.T.S.E. Local 471 has the skilled personnel and the experience to help any producer meet their labour requirements in a timely and cost effective manner, regardless of how big or small their needs.
